Our Values

At Pitchford Produce, we are driven by deep values and convictions. These inform our business practices and our approach to growing vegetables and growing people.

A Focus on Quality and Sustainability

Pitchford Produce growers are meticulous, ensuring that each item of produce meets our high standards for quality and freshness. From careful tracking and monitoring of the planting and harvesting dates, to climate control of the processing, packing, and shipping stages, and adhering to strict quality assurance standards for each unit – no detail is overlooked.

In addition to our focus on the quality of produce, Pitchford Produce is also committed to water-efficient and sustainable agriculture. We rotate our crops, including Brassica vegetables and non-Brassica vegetables, along with green manure crops to maintain soil health. Our integrated pest management program protects beneficial insects while controlling pests. Plus, we’ve set aside 20 hectares of native scrub land to enhance the sustainability impact of our farm.

Reliable Supply and Distribution

Pitchford Produce impresses with its ability to supply produce as far as Melbourne, Sydney, and Perth, all from our farm in the Fleurieu Peninsula. Wholesalers return to our supply of produce because they know they can rely on its consistent quality. Pitchford Produce sets a high bar for integrity in the industry, and suppliers appreciate the trust they have in Graeme and his team to always meet their customers’ needs.

Employee Support

“At Pitchford Produce,
our aim is to grow good veggies
and to grow good people.”

We take the responsibility of caring for our employees seriously. As Christians, Graeme and Mandy hold a particularly deep personal conviction regarding their practical care and concern for those employed by the company.

Part of providing a safe workspace means considering the holistic wellbeing of our workers. That’s why we employ trained chaplains to be available for our employees whenever they need support.

We employ seasonal workers from the Pacific Islands, through the national PALM scheme (Pacific Australia Labour Mobility). These workers from Vanuatu add a unique flavour to our workforce and are appreciated for their skilled contributions on the farm. Part of our duty of care for these groups is to provide good accommodation for them and facilitate their access to community services as needed.
